Senbei is a very popular Japanese snack. It is salty crackers made from wheat flour and rice seasoned with soy sauce or salt. It is less oily than potato chips. When the wrapper is opened, a savory scent comes out. Although I don’t notice, many foreign visitors say that Japanese airports smell of something. I guess that it is like the aroma of soy sauce-flavored senbei.
Anyway, it is the best snack when I feel a little hungry. When you go to a supermarket, you can see a wide selection of ‘senbei‘ on the sheves. Also, you may come across senbei stands in many shopping streets and tourist spots. But there is only one thing to be careful of. Some senbei are so hard that your teeth can be broken!
